MH CET MBA is the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test conducted by the State CET Cell for MBA and MMS admissions across 300+ institutes. It is the primary gateway to JBIMS — India's most value-for-money MBA college — along with SIMSREE, KJ Somaiya, PUMBA, and Welingkar. No negative marking and two attempts per year make it one of India's most candidate-friendly MBA entrance exams.
The single biggest differentiator in MH CET. LR tests pattern recognition, argument evaluation, and sequential reasoning at high speed. Strong performance here separates 99+ scorers from the rest. Covers syllogisms, arrangements, blood relations, coding-decoding, critical reasoning, statement-assumption, and series.
- Syllogisms
- Arrangements & Sequences
- Blood Relations & Directions
- Coding-Decoding
- Critical Reasoning
- Statement-Conclusion / Assumptions
- Series & Analogies
Non-verbal visual pattern recognition — the section most coaching institutes ignore. Matrix patterns, odd-figure-out, shape series, and figure analogies. With the right practice, this is a high-accuracy, fast-scoring section.
- Pattern Series
- Odd Figure Out
- Matrix Completion
- Figure Analogies
Arithmetic-heavy with significant Data Interpretation. Easier than CAT QA — speed and calculation accuracy matter more than conceptual depth. Covers Arithmetic, DI, Number Systems, Algebra, and Geometry.
- Arithmetic
- Data Interpretation
- Number Systems & Algebra
- Geometry & Modern Maths
Split equally between VA (25 Qs) and RC (25 Qs). VA covers grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and para-jumbles. RC has 3–4 moderate passages. Strong vocabulary and reading speed are the key differentiators.
- Reading Comprehension
- Fill in the Blanks / Grammar
- Vocabulary
- Para-Jumbles & Idioms

MH CET MBA Eligibility Criteria
MH CET has open eligibility — any graduate from a recognised university can apply. Maharashtra domicile status gives a significant advantage in CAP round seat allocation.
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a university recognised by UGC or AIU. The degree must be of at least 3 years duration from an AICTE/UGC-recognised institution.
At least 50% aggregate in graduation for Open/General category. 45% for Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) as per Maharashtra reservation norms.
Students in the final year of graduation can appear provisionally. Admission is confirmed only after submitting the final degree and meeting the percentage requirement.
Maharashtra domicile candidates are eligible for state quota seats at JBIMS and SIMSREE — which are highly competitive. Domicile, caste validity, and income certificates are verified during CAP document verification.
All India quota seats are available to non-Maharashtra candidates. Institutes like KJ Somaiya and Welingkar actively admit candidates from outside Maharashtra through these seats.
MH CET offers two attempts per cycle — April and May. The best score across both is considered for CAP. Candidates can attempt every year with no overall attempt limit.
MH CET MBA — Typical Annual Calendar

The GRADSKOOL Method
MH CET is won through consistent structure — not cramming. Every week follows the same four-step process.
Two-way live class where students articulate reasoning aloud. Concepts built through structured questioning — not passive watching. Every session targets a specific MH CET skill.
Targeted area-wise and sectional drills assigned after each session. Questions chosen to reinforce specific patterns — not random drilling. Speed benchmarks tracked weekly.
MH CET-pattern full-length mocks at regular intervals — 200 questions, 150 minutes, no negative marking. Simulates real exam pressure and surfaces actual behavioural patterns.
Detailed breakdown of every mock — time distribution, attempt vs accuracy, section-wise gaps, and a personalised action plan. This is where most improvement happens.
Top MH CET Colleges & Cutoffs
MH CET opens the door to some of India's best-value MBA programmes. JBIMS remains the crown jewel — government fees and placement outcomes that rival the IIMs.
Why MH CET matters: JBIMS Mumbai offers a 2-year MBA at approximately ₹2 lakh total fees — with placement packages consistently matching IIM Lucknow and Kozhikode. It is India's most underrated MBA by return on investment.
Cutoffs are approximate based on historical data. Actual cutoffs vary by year, paper difficulty, and reservation category. Verify current cutoffs via DTE Maharashtra CAP round merit lists.

From the MH CET Cohort
I have been part of several coaching programmes before, but GRADSKOOL is genuinely different. The course structure is meticulous — every topic is built from first principles, nothing is rushed, and nothing is assumed. ALP sir's personal involvement is what sets it apart. He knows where each student is struggling and addresses it directly in the session. The two-way live format means no question goes unanswered. I am preparing for MH CET 2026 and I cannot imagine a better environment to do it in.
What I did not expect was how much the personal guidance would matter. ALP sir does not just teach concepts — he understands how you think and corrects your approach at the root. The Abstract Reasoning sessions were a revelation for me. I had always found it unpredictable, but the systematic pattern recognition framework made it completely manageable. The cohort size of 27 is real — I have had my doubts addressed by name in almost every session. Preparing for MH CET 2026 with full confidence.
I am preparing for both CAT and MH CET simultaneously, and GRADSKOOL's curriculum handles both seamlessly. The QA and LR content serves both exams — the only additional work is the Abstract Reasoning module which is MH CET specific. ALP sir's ability to design a system that works across multiple exams without diluting either is genuinely impressive. The personal support and the structured post-mock feedback are unlike anything I have experienced in coaching.
Frequently Asked Questions
